• The Great Thirst (the entire boxed set) by Mary C. Findley
• The Crystal Needle by Daniel Peyton

A few books I’ve re-read:

• Foreigner by C.J. Cherryh
• Lady-Protector by L. E. Modesitt, Jr.
• A Conspiracy of Kings by Megan Whalen Turner

Relent, speculative fiction by Kat Heckenbach tells the story of how a half-human/half-angel hybrid finds her way to redemption, grace, and mercy.
This is a fun, clean read, but it definitely requires suspension of disbelief.

The Great Thirst box set (seven volumes–and a fantastic deal), contemporary Christian end times/action adventure fiction by Mary C. Findley. High school history teacher Keith Bradley and Talia Ramin as they search for a series of golden tablets in an effort to preserve God’s Word against the coming of the Great Thirst prophesied in Amos 8:11-12.
This is a very exciting page turner that will keep you guessing what comes next clear to the end of the series. I had trouble putting it down.

The Crystal Needle, a sewing fantasy by Daniel Peyton. The premise for this book made me giggle when I read it because of the famous bonding tape for sewing (look it up and share a laugh with me). Two stitching witches have different visions for the safety and success of the world they’ve created in a small New England village. Into this walks a young man who has no idea how dangerous the previous owner of the house his parents bought could possibly be…
A fun light read with some goofy yet very romantic moments. If you’re into fantasy with magical elements and you love sewing and embroidery, this story is going to keep you turning the pages until it’s finished.

Great End of Summer Reads that I’ve Reread

The whole point of owning books is to be able to re-read them when the mood strikes. And apparently the mood has struck again, so I’m working my way through some of my better favorites. I’m learning to appreciate books on Kindle, and learning how to navigate the options on the Kindle, but–I still love my hardcover and paperback books that live in my library.
I’ve also been trying to stay away more from the local public library lately (unfortunately) because the freshly printed paperbacks are causing an unpleasant chemical reaction. This would be a very unfortunate turn of events if I didn’t have books at home that I can re-read.
Foreigner: Science Fiction by C.J. Cherryh. The whole series is fantastic, but I only own the first book. Actually, anything written by C.J. is fantastic… I do own at least one other of her books from anothe series.

Lady-Protector: Fantasy by L.E. Modesitt, Jr. L.E.’s fantasy world building is amazing, and I love the deft way he weaves such intricate details into his stories. I’ll read anything he writes. Well, just about anything… I own several of his books.

A Conspiracy of Kings: Mediterranean mythos/fantasy with some gunpowder elements by Megan Whalen Turner. Megan’s story-telling is amazing, and her characters are so well-developed, they feel real.
